what is CBT ?
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based and highly effective approach to therapy. It looks at the link between thoughts, feelings and behaviours and your therapist will work with you to try and identify some of these patterns and links to enable you to change them. For example negative thinking often associated with low mood and depression can leave a person feeling trapped, helpless and isolated ; your therapist will work with you to identify some of the thoughts and behaviours maintaining this by assisting you to challenge some of the thought patterns, behaviours and to help alleviate some of the symptoms that often accompany low mood and depression. Both therapist and client will work collaboratively to identify goals for therapy and to develop understanding of the presenting problem before tailoring a treatment plan and teaching the individuals tools and techniques to assist with change
